Over 1,000 customers without power in Cherokee

Mid American estimates restoration by noon

Nearly 1,190 customers were without power in Cherokee proper and Cherokee County this morning following high winds that damaged power infrastructure.

As of 10 a.m., 23% of MidAmerican customers are without power in the county with many impacted customers located in Marcus.

Tina Hoffman, MidAmerican’s vice president of corporate communications told the Chronicle Times that, as of 11:20 a.m. only one customer was without power but expected complete restoration by noon.

Similar outages were reported across much of Iowa with large metro areas like Sioux City and Des Moines reporting hundreds of customers without power.
